BT dials up 1,000 new jobs
BT has announced plans to create 1,000 new jobs in the UK this year. The new positions will be a mixture of apprenticeships and graduate training schemes. Most of the new recruits will be trained at BT’s complex in Suffolk while others will be based elsewhere in the UK including London, Glasgow, Cardiff, Manchester and Leeds. BT will be offering a new scheme which will see apprentices gain honours degrees while they work. As a reflection of how far BT has moved on from just being a provider of traditional telephony services across the country to the global multimedia telecommunications giant it is today, the new recruits will have the chance to work in a wide range of fields including engineering, IT, TV and technology research. That’s not all. As well as the new jobs, BT will also offer up to 1,000 vocational training and work experience placements. All has a nice ring to it.
