These days it is getting harder and harder to find a place to park a car without having to buy a ticket. Not if you find yourself in Westwood Ho!, Devon after a local businessman bought a village car park which has 20 spaces and promptly made it free to park. Before Rob Braddick acquired the lease from Torridge District Council, it cost owners £3 to park their cars but as Mr Braddick, who owns a business nearby, said “It’s not all about taking money. It is nice to give something back to the community…The car park is for anybody to use, completely free.” Not surprisingly, Mr Braddick’s purchase has gone down well with villagers: the businessman has been described as “a star” and “a legend”. Some things money just can’t buy.
