Curiosity may not have killed the cat but it certainly sent Cupcake, a Siamese from Cornwall, 250 miles away to West Sussex. It appears the pet cat climbed into a box containing DVDs that was then taped up and posted all the way to Worthing. Meanwhile back home in Falmouth Cupcake’s owner, a Ms Julie Baggot, was desperately trying to find her missing cat, as she recalls “When I realised she was missing, it was the most horrible, scary feeling. We looked everywhere for her…We made posters and walked miles across fields, forests and woods looking for her. All the neighbours got involved and people were spreading the word around.” In all the missing moggy was trapped for eight days before the parcel was unwrapped and Cupcake was freed. Ms Baggott couldn’t believe it when her family received a phone call to say their beloved pet had been found. “It was a miracle because she was alive and she’s managed to survive that awful ordeal…I feel terrible about what’s happened, because I put everything in the box and sealed it straight away so I don’t (know) how she managed to get in there.” Aside from being dehydrated and scared, Cupcake was unhurt. And thanks to being micro-chipped she was soon reunited with her owner. The editor presumes she wasn’t sent back in the post.
