Congratulations to Laurent Simons from Belgium who, after successfully graduating from secondary school, will shortly be continuing his studies at university. Big deal? It certainly is, for Laurent is just eight years old. Armed with an IQ of 145, the boy genius recently collected his diploma alongside a class of 18 year olds after completing six years of schooling in just 18 months. No sitting on his Laurents. After taking a well-earned two months off, young Laurent plans to head straight off to university. As for what he will do after finishing his studies, it appears the former schoolboy has yet to decide. Having previously thought about becoming a surgeon and an astronaut, he is now thinking about working with computers. But as his father says: “If he decided tomorrow to become a carpenter, that would not be a problem for us, as long as he is happy”. No need to make a decision just yet, after all the youngster does have a lot of time on his side.
