Lost & Found
Question: what did a Mr Gareth Ellis-Unwin leave behind on a train? A) a laptop with government secrets stored on it? B) The draft script of his latest novel? C) His favourite cuddly toy? Or D) an Oscar? Answer: D an Oscar. For Mr Ellis-Unwin is an award winning film producer who scooped up the Best Picture Award at the 2011 Oscar ceremony for the hit movie ‘The King’s Speech’. It was when the co-founder of Bedlam Productions got off the Great Western Railway service at Didcot Parkway station in Oxfordshire that he accidently left behind the briefcase which contained the prized statuette. Luckily, staff @GWRHelp kept their heads and sent a team to meet the train at Oxford to retrieve Oscar. A grateful Mr Ellis-Unwin later shared his story on twitter. @Bedlam_Gareth tweeted: “Bit of an evening. Got to say a massive thank you to all the staff @GWRHelp awesome customer service (props to my man @runnerglyn)…A certain producer got ON the 17:18 to Didcot with the Oscar but got OFF said train without… CUT TO : 3 hours mad panic, multiple phone calls…” GWR call handler Glyn Davis, who dealt with the unusual inquiry, replied: “Thanks Gareth, we got there in the end #GreatOutcome.” A spokesman for GWR couldn’t resist adding: “We’re pleased our teams were able to deliver a show-stopping performance for Gareth and reunite him with his Oscar.” Now that’s a wrap!
