No Ordinary Joe
What would you do if you received an invite to go on holiday with a group of strangers? That was the question facing a Mr Joe McGrath from Manchester after he received a Facebook message which asked him if he “would consider coming on holiday with a group of nine strangers if they had already arranged flights and an all inclusive hotel?” The nine strangers were a group of friends from Bristol who had organised a holiday in Spain. When one of the group, a certain Joe McGrath, could no longer make the trip, they decided to get in touch with 15 others who had the same name. Only one called back, Manchester Joe. “I was the only mad enough Joe to say yes!” said the 21 year old “I first read the message and I was at a gig in Manchester. I ignored it straight away,” Joe told Sky News. “It wasn’t until the following day that I went back to the message and soon realised this offer might be legit”. So Manchester Joe took a chance and drove down to Bristol. He was not disappointed. He caught a Ryanair flight to Majorca and as he explains “The holiday was mint because the people were so good and welcoming, the weather was lovely and we drank a lot.” And it seems the Bristol nine had no regrets about asking a stranger to come on holiday with them “What a legend for coming away with strangers. We had a ace time,” said one of the group. Indeed they got on so well that Joe wants “to bring them to Manchester and show them a big night out”. Could be the start of a beautiful friendship.
