Mystery surrounds a postcard which was delivered to a family house in Nantwich in Cheshire: the card bears a stamp with the head of George V, which means it would have been issued sometime between 1912 and 1924; it is addressed to a house which was built in the 1930s; but the postmark is clearly stamped 20 August 2015. One possible explanation is that the postcard has been lying around the sorting office for the last 100 years or so. Unlikely say the Royal Mail as they regularly check their sorting offices and clear out their machines. Another is someone came across it and decided to put it in a postbox hence the recent postmark. Enough of the speculation, if anyone out there knows – answers on postcard please.
