Wake Up Call
Sally Gibson can be described as a walking miracle, literally. For after spending seven months lying unresponsive on a hospital bed following a massive bleed on her brain, the 83 year old from Newcastle has made a full recovery. To say it has been a remarkable turnaround would be an understatement. Her family had been preparing to say their final goodbyes to Ms Gibson when a surgeon at Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Hospital asked for their permission to try one last procedure – inserting a shunt to move the blood. It worked so well that not only is she back at home, but now Ms Gibson intends to make the most of her new lease of life by helping others. Ms Gibson and the surgeon at Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Hospital, the Daily Cheer salutes you.
