For those readers no longer in their teens, cast your minds back to what you were doing when you were 14 years old? Listening to music? Playing computer games? Hanging out with friends? How about winning a professional golf tour event? That is what amateur golfer Atthaya Thitikul has just chalked up at the tender age of 14 after she won the Ladies European Thailand Championship. Unsurprisingly, the teenager has become the youngest known winner of a professional competition, but unfortunately she cannot claim the 45,000 euro prize money because of her amateur status. But it seems the money was not the driving force for Thitikul as she explains, “It makes me feel very happy and so proud of myself. This trophy, I give to Thailand and the Thai people.” As for what set her on course to become a golfing champ, the Thai teenager added, “My family do not play golf. When I was younger, aged six, my father told me to play sport and he offered tennis or golf and I watched golf on TV and I liked it.” That’s the power of tee v for you.
