Dolphin by name dolphin by nature. Former American football pro, Rob Konrad, had to swim nine miles back to shore after he fell off his boat while fishing off the South Florida coast. Konrad, 38, couldn’t reach the safety of the 36 foot boat as it was cruising on auto pilot. Instead the Former Miami Dolphins running back had to swim the equivalent of almost 300 lengths of an Olympic-sized swimminng pool to reach the shore. In all Konrad spent around 12 hours in the water and had to be treated for hypothermia. Clearly spending five years as a Dolphin between 1999-2004 paid off for Konrad during his marathon swim. Just as well he didn’t play for the Chicago Bulls.
