David Thornhill loves his football. Not only is he a qualified referee, he is also a Norwich City fan who, when he is not officiating a match, can be found watching the Canaries at their Carrow Road ground. Just as well, for when one of the assistant referees picked up an injury in the 88th minute of the Championship game between Norwich City and Preston, Mr Thornhill stepped up to the plate. After a ten minute break he took over as the fourth official, allowing the game, which eventually ended 1-1, could continue. All in a day’s holiday for the ref.
