Having Your Cake And Eating It
If like the editor you think there must be a trade off between on the one hand doing your bit for the environment by switching to an electric vehicle and on the other hand going fast, think again. For a new speed record for a street legal electric racing car has been set and it makes impressive reading. The Enfield 8000, known as the Flux Capacitor, was clocked at 118.38 mph for 11.27 seconds over a quarter mile stretch. What makes the record even more impressive is that the car has not just come off a modern production line full of the latest high tech wizardry. Rather it was built over forty years ago in 1974 to wean drivers off oil when prices rocketed in the 1970s. Good to see that 40 years on it is still doing the job it was built for. Bravo.
