A baker from Glasgow has been inundated with orders for her cakes after one of her creations became an online hit on social media. It all started when Lilian Johnstone was asked to make a cake for Iain Orr by his friends as a prank. Mr Orr is a fan of Rangers football club, one half of one of the keenest rivalries in professional football. So the baker created a cake which was decorated on the outside with the blue, red and white livery of Rangers along with the crest of the famous Glashgow club. But inside, the sponge was dyed with green food colouring and layered in such a way as to resemble the green and white hoops of arch rivals Celtic. When Lilian posted a picture of her cake on her Cupcakes by Lilian page on Facebook, little did she know that it would be shared thousands of times, as the cake maker explains “I’ve made a cake like this before and it ended up on quite a few Celtic forums, but it never got as much coverage as this one. I honestly didn’t expect it. I’m totally overwhelmed, it’s amazing.” That’s what you call the icing on the cake.
