Off Camera
Drivers who had been issued with fines in the Australian state of Victoria including the inner city of Melbourne must be breathing a collective sigh of relief after 590 tickets for speeding and jumping red-lights were cancelled. Victorian Police took the decision to let the drivers off after a maintenance worker inadvertently infected 55 traffic cameras with the Wannacry ransomware virus using a USB stick. The problem was only detected when the Police noticed the cameras were rebooting more than usual. The editor is sure the decision was fine with all those who were issued with a ticket.
