Roll Out The Barrel
Bikes can be made of lots of different materials these days: steel; aluminium, titanium, carbon fibre. To the list can now be added whisky casks after the first bicycle to be made out of wood taken from old wooden barrels rolled off the production line at bike manufacturer Renovo’s workshop in Oregon. With around 15 staves required to make one bike frame, securing a steady supply of casks is vital. But it seems Renovo has got this covered as old casks are shipped to the US all the way from Glenmorangie’s distillery in Tain in Easter Ross, Scotland. So how much will one of Renovo’s cask bikes set you back? Over £5,000. Phew, buyers may need a stiff whisky after hearing that.
