Firefighters save the day! A crew came to the rescue of a seven week old baby girl after she had accidently become trapped inside her mother’s car. It was an unfortunate chain of events that led to the emergency outside a supermarket in County Londonderry. It all started when the keys dropped into the car just as the baby’s mother was closing one of the doors. Unfortunately there was too little time to stop the door from closing and this activated the security system which locked the car. Enter the firefighters who broke through a rear quarterlight window of the vehicle. That was the easy part – reaching the keys which had fallen onto the floor of the white Audi was another matter. Using cutting edge technology (an old bent piece of wire), they managed to eventually retrieve the keys, open the door and reunite mother and baby. All in a day’s work for the firefighters.
