To propose live on TV, the proposer has got to be pretty confident the answer will be a favourable one.  Who knows how confident Denis Kochanov, Russia’s Zvezda TV news anchor, was when, knowing that his girlfriend was watching the show, he got up from his desk, walked across the studio, then got down on one knee and said in front of a camera:  “As there is a lack of good news I’d like to add one myself.”  He then took out a ring from his pocket and said: “Margarita Stepanova, will you marry me? I will wait for your answer and hope you say yes.” He then moved out of shot as the credits rolled and the cameras panned out.  As for Ms Stepanova’s answer, the good folk at Zvezda TV took pity on the viewers and confirmed she said yes on Russian social network site, Vkontakte.  Many congratulations to the happy couple, but just like to clarify Mr Kochanov, next time there is a shortage of good news be sure to check out The Daily Cheer…
