Who Ate All The Pies?
Question: what is the world record for the most shaving foam pies to hit someone’s face in a minute? Answer: 72. That is the new mark set by Dov Citron and Paul Megram, otherwise known as Captain Calamity and Colonel Custard. The pair beat the previous record by one in what was their fourth and final attempt at Kidtropolis at ExCel in East London. A presumably pie-eyed Mr Citron, whose role was to provide the target for all those pies, said: ‘The key is to stay calm, close your eyes, hold your breath and brace yourself.’ The children’s entertainer added: ‘I used to get a Guinness World Record Book every year for my birthday when I was a kid and I always loved looking at the daftest records best. Never in a million years did I think I would join the ranks of these select few.’ As for the pie hurler, former children’s entertainer Mr Megram said: ‘I must admit I was exhausted. It was so much fun but I didn’t realise just how strenuous it would be. The pies were coming in at a rate of nearly two every second- and only the ones that hit were counted,’ he said. The record breaking attempt followed the strict guidelines set by Guinness World Records. This meant that the pies had to cover a distance of 1.5metres; the plates had to be full of foam forming a peak at the top; and only shaving foam could be used (the traditional custard is no longer allowed due to food wastage concerns). Mr Citron, who stars in The Captain Calamity Adventures YouTube show for kids, does not intend to rest on his record breaking laurels: ‘Of course. I’m hooked now,’ he told MailOnline. ‘I wonder if there’s a record involving slime or some other revolting substance. I’d love to do that.’ Sounds like someone wants a bigger slice of the pie.
